SALON STROZZI: EIN SIT-IN

Barbara Strozzi was a prolific yet mysterious composer of the Baroque era, whose work could never be performed outside the four walls of the academy founded by her father. With the help of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesdbaden, La Phenomena shows the world what they have been missing by placing Strozzi at the centre of the action. Collaborating with six performers from the permanent ensemble who each embody an aspect of Barbara Strozzi, the French director Maëlle Dequiedt imagines a topsy-turvy universe in which the audience is invited on stage and the singers perform in the auditorium. Revealing the light and shade of this music, Salon Strozzi immerses spectators in a visual and sonic installation, granting them privileged access to spaces that are normally out of bounds for audiences.
