GOAT STORY
This film, shot in the north of France, combines fiction with documentary. In it we encounter a wandering goat in an unnamed town, a ghost which haunts motorists, a devil and a farmer, a radio presenter and a choir of Polish miners. It also addresses the memory of the Usinor steelworks, whose closure in the 1980s left an indelible scar on the region. Each of these stories is a tree which hides a deeper forest.
La Phenomena has been in residency for three years in the mining region of Valenciennes, forging links with the inhabitants and local associations. Building upon stories, legends and news items collected in the area, Goat Story is an attempt to transpose onscreen a mode of theatrical creation.
